A Preview of the Antigua Charter Yacht Show 2014

Each year in early December, the Caribbean yachting season kicks off with the much-loved Antigua Charter Yacht Show, as over 90 superyachts converge on the beautiful island to show off their charter attributes.
Far from the commercial buzz of Fort Lauderdale and Monaco shows, the Antigua event offers a more relaxed and personal experience, welcoming brokers and press on board to experience first-hand the luxury and professionalism of the international charter fleet.
The show takes place between the 5th and 11th of December over three nearby locations; Nelson’s Dockyard Marina in English Harbour, the Falmouth Harbour Marina and the Antigua Yacht Club Marina.
Yacht viewings and lunches onboard give a sense of the individual features and capabilities of each yacht, while the themed yacht hop parties at night show the personality and fun of the superyacht experience, allowing the crew to show off their service skills while competing to create the greatest reputation for their yacht.
There are also educational and networking opportunities available for brokers and crew, including welcome parties, wine tastings and informational hours.
On the menu again this year is the extremely popular Concours de Chef competition, which will require chefs to create a gluten-free three course meal, while steward/esses compete to create the most spectacular and stylish designs in the table-setting competition.
Rounding off the experience, brokers and press are invited onboard selected yachts for a day sail on the 11th.
It’s a very enjoyable show, with a very serious purpose: to create a lasting, positive impression of yachts and their crews, so that brokers can recommend the yacht to their clients with the complete confidence that comes with having spent time on a yacht and seen its crew in action.
This year, Northrop & Johnson are delighted to announce that we will be showcasing four yachts in the show’s line-up. N&J proudly invites attendees to visit the elegant 164 ft Westport M/Y Aquavita, the fun and sophisticated 157ft M/Y Cocktails and the recently refitted 142 ft Christensen M/Y Lady Bee.
Also exhibiting is the luxurious explorer yacht M/Y Safira, which won the 2014 Sparkman & Stephens Superyacht Award for Naval Architecture for her environmentally friendly design. This ‘green’ adventure yacht features remarkable engineering as well as a luxurious interior crafted from natural, sustainable and recycled materials. Come take a look at this award-winning, one-of-a-kind vessel.
This show is about selling the experience of chartering a yacht, by showcasing the boats and their crews at their shining, professional best. Northrop and Johnson looks forward to welcoming you to Antigua.
